Prepare Your Little Ones for the Beach with These Summer Essentials

With warmer weather comes cookouts, barbecues, different outdoor activities, trips to the beach, and lots of fun! Getting prepared ahead of time with the following summer essentials can help you enhance your summertime fun-time so you can spend more time relaxing with the family.

Clothing

Being too hot in summer because you've got the wrong clothes isn't pleasant for anyone. Comfortable clothes made from breathable fabrics can make a big difference. Of course, fashionable is a bonus if you have a little girl. There is a number of brands that design clothes that wick moisture away from you, made with fabrics that breath, and/or have sunscreen built into them. Those qualities can play a great role in making your family happy when spending days outside in the summer.

Swimsuit

A kid's swimsuit should be more about the function and less about fashion. While it's all fine for your little girl to look lovely while playing in the sand or splashing in the pool, it is a lot more important that she is protected against the sun and allowed to move easily while treading, wading, swimming and playing on and out of the water.

Girls swimsuit options include a variety of one- and two-pieces styles. The classic one-piece suits, bikinis, tankinis and board shorts with bikini tops or rash guards are all popular girls swimsuit options. A one-piece suit or rash guard with bikini bottoms will provide additional coverage to protect the delicate skin of younger girls from the sun. For older girls, bright colours and pattern choices of mix-and-match bikini separates can add style and flare. For girls who enjoy the comfort of a two-piece but wants a little more coverage, a tankini makes a great option. Although girls swimsuit options are larger, boys too have a lot of options for swimwear to choose. Board shorts, swim trunks and swim shorts are all good choices for boys. Board shorts are a popular option due to their youthful fit, bright colours and patterns, and a longer length for extra sun protection. For slender boys, look for lace-up or drawstring closures to help keep their swim bottoms secure in place. Consider getting a UV rash guard top to your son wardrobe to protect his upper body from excessive UV exposure.

Footwear

It is true that sneakers are pretty convenient to wear. But in hot summers, we all want breathable materials that don't weigh you down or cover you up. That is where sandals come into the game. Ranging from dainty designs to pair with summer dresses for girls or cut and sturdy sandals for boys to match their summer playtime outfits, a range of kids footwear are available to suit all kinds of needs.

Hats

During summer everyone needs protection from the sun and wearing a hat that is comfortable is a great way to achieve that. A hat that is not comfortable or you don't like the look of isn't going to get worn as much, and this is especially true with kids. Whether it is a fashionable sun hat or a cap with your child's favourite sports team, just pick one your children will wear. Especially on days when you will be outside for long periods of time, grab those hats!

Sunglasses

Not only do sunglasses help protect your child's delicate eyes from the harsh sunlight, but they also add a summer vibe to your kiddo's overall look. Check out for designs ranging from pretty flowers to solid colours, to retro-chic, to race tracks to animal ears, to name a few. You are sure to find something your child will love among these choices.

Activities, Books and Games

Outdoor family games are a great way to keep the family entertained and enjoy one another's company. Games are also an effective way to unplug and get a little exercise. For example, you can get a decent volleyball starter set at an affordable price, and it will last for many years and give your family many hours of fun and memories too. A croquet set may cost you a little more, but again, you will be using it for years to come and it's a great activity for get-togethers.

First Aid Kit

You probably already have a first aid kit on hand, but is it updated and has some kind of itch relief, compression bandages, tweezers for splinter removal, and a few ice packs? It is also a good idea to keep benzocaine swabs in your kit for bee stings and something to address allergies. Getting these items will cost you a few bucks, and you may never use them, but it is worth having.

With these essentials, you will surely be ready for tons of summertime fun. Don't forget to apply plenty of sunscreen before dressing your kid, whether it is just for a few hours out in the sun during playtime or an entire day's event like a fun summer party.

Simple Guidelines for Dressing Business Casual

Blame it on the casual Friday or Silicon Valley, it seems that every other day of the workweek is becoming more casual and the new way of dressing for many companies. Business casual has become the standard dress code for many companies especially in the past couple of decades with the tech boom establishing settings where there is no personal contact between the clients and the employees. The world of business casual attire is taking a leap from the days when the business formal attire was the only one accepted. But let's make some things clear, just because the strictures of the office style are shifting doesn't mean that they are vanishing entirely. Suits and ties may not be the standard work attire anymore for some offices but that doesn't mean that you can look like you have just rolled out of a dorm room. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg may be the only one that can rock too casual look and wear typical everyday clothing pieces to work like a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, ho...
